As a wood veneer processing company, wood is without a doubt our most prized raw material and should be treated as such. The forests in which our wood is sourced, deserve an equal level of respect.
It is Decospan’s ambition to contribute to the creation of healthy forests that grow in size and diversity.
Promoting responsible forest management and stopping deforestation is a must if we want to protect biodiversity, limit global warming, adapt to climate change and ensure a sustainable water supply.
Through responsible management, a forest maintains its biological diversity while still benefitting the livelihoods of local people and workers.
The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC®) and Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) are two of the best-known certifications within the wood industry. These labels prove that wood is sourced from responsibly managed forests.
At Decospan, we take pride in our commitment to responsible forest management, exemplified by FSC® (FSC-C095327) and PEFC (PEFC/07-32-60) certifications.
Quality Manager at Decospan
Wood is a precious but limited resource.
To minimise waste, we need to make the most out of every sheet of veneer that passes through our hands.
At Decospan, we apply a similar principle to that of a butcher using all the parts of a cow: we select and upgrade veneer carefully by sorting, combining and jointing veneer strips into sheets from the entire tree trunk – using both premium looks and ones with more character.
Each veneer sheet finds a home where it fits best: whether it’s part of a collection or as a custom panel.
The recently introduced EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) is designed to address the substantial challenges of deforestation and forest degradation.
The EU aims to protect and improve the health of existing forests, while significantly expanding sustainable, biodiverse forest coverage on a global scale.
Consequently, our ambition is to contribute to the creation of healthy forests that grow in size and diversity and to protect ecosystems by 2040.
