In a hotel room, you can really relax. No wonder that this is a style that does well in homes too. There's always a holiday feeling when you enter your bedroom - who wouldn't want that? If you want to create an interior with a calming effect, wood is always your best choice. It will even give rooms with limited space a very open, calming yet intimate, atmosphere.
If you want something more than a flat veneer wall covering, you can opt for a slatted wood structure. It will add a special dynamic and extra cosiness, while also improving the acoustics. A beautiful example: Hôtel MiL8, a luxury ski hotel in Avoriaz near the French Alps. The hotel rooms are literally made for daydreaming, with spectacular mountain views. The walls are clad in light-coloured Astrata Slats, a slatted wood veneer structure. These serve perfectly as room dividers in a larger room, to make separate compartments in the room without the heaviness of a wall. The slats extend from floor and ceiling, forming a semi-transparent wall.
To make a hotel room less noisy, you can also opt for acoustic, sound absorbing panels to cover the ceiling and walls. With an integrated solution such as Woodcoustics' acoustic panels, which also exist in a slatted relief, you don't have to compromise on aesthetics.

Of course, you do not have to opt a light wood shade. A wall covering in very dark wood, such as the entrance hall of Hôtel MiL8, can look wonderfully dramatic, especially when combined with special lighting fixtures in contrasting white. In any case, dark woods are ideal for creating a warm, cosy atmosphere. At Parkhotel in Waregem, extensive use was made of a very dark wall covering in Shinnoki Stardust Walnut.
Typically, hotels also have a unity of style across chains or rooms. Covering a large area evenly with veneer is not always straightforward. With reconstructed veneers, interior designers still have access to an infinitely repetitive, perfectly identical pattern. Infinite Wood's FSC® (FSC-C095327)-certified veneer even exists in an exotic wood look: a sustainable and budget-friendly alternative.
If you want to make a room extra warm and cosy, you can add a soft carpet. A wall-to-wall carpet is therefore a classic look in hotel rooms and it also absorbs sounds. One drawback: carpet is not really low-maintenance. It can have stains that are difficult to remove and can be a problem for people with allergies. Parkhotel Waregem shows that it can also be done differently, with a high-quality Parky parquet floor. A wood floor also looks and feels warm, and a class 33 floor is suitable for intensive use. We highly recommend it for any location.
